Report from the Old city of Jerusalem

Weekly Update from Oriel
"The world’s hypocritical attack on Israel is unprecedented and never been more undeserved." (Benjiman Netanyahu.) The Gaza Flotilla (Picture Shayetet 13 Naval commandoes who participated).
Direct from Israel’s news headlines, from Israeli public opinion, and a quote from the commando’s themselves who participated in the raids.
Israel has long prided herself to have the most moral army in the world, while our enemies barricade themselves behind hospitals and other civilian institutions, as well as humanitarian shipments, as this flotilla clearly showed the world. Israel time and time again has lost precious lives and engaged our soldier’s lives in an effort not to harm our enemies' civilian populations.

The Gaza commandos dragged three Israeli soldiers unconscious to the belly of the boat where a room had been prepared. In their own words, they proclaimed that they were on the verge of having three more Gilad Shalits (abduction of Israeli soldier in June 2006). If the so-called peace activists managed to secure the room with explosives and guards, then Israeli commandos would have been forced to abandon mission. The time frame that marked failure and success were merely seconds. In the nick of time, Israeli commandos rescued their comrades before it was too late. In the room was all the communication equipment and cameras ready for filming negotiations.

Emanuel with Obama are apply, much pressure on Israel to divide Jerusalem and the western wall being a symbol of united Jerusalem. Demonstrators chanting slogans were even pushed to the ground by police.

The Aaronic Blessing live at the Western Wall Jerusalem Israel

Weekly update by Oriel.
In the book of Numbers, chapter 6, verses 24-26, Aaron and his sons are commanded to bless Israel.  Twice a year, on Passover and Succoth (Sukkot*), at the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) in Jerusalem, this blessing is publicly sung by the priests over the people of Israel.  Jews whose surname is ‘Cohen,’ which is derived from 'cohanim,' meaning 'priests' in Hebrew, sing the priestly blessing over the Israelite nation.
Blessing our children is very much ingrained in both secular and religious Jewish society.  In kindergarten on the children’s birthdays, the class one by one pronounce a blessing over the birthday child.  As a parent of many children, it always has brought me much joy to accompany my child to kindergarten on his or her birthday and hear the students pronounce the blessing.  Isaac blesses Jacob and Esau, Jacob blesses the twelve tribes of Israel at the end of his life, and God commands Moses to have Aaron and his sons, as members of the Levitical priesthood, to bless the children of Israel.

Numbers 6:  24-26:  “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:  The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."

Tuesday evening Israel is celebrating the feast of Shavuot (weeks in Hebrew) Pentecost (50 in Greek)

Weekly update by Oriel.
The Hebrew name “Shavuot” (meaning weeks) is derived from the 7 weeks we are commanded to count, and The Greek name “Pentecost” (50) is because the actual feast was on the 50th day; after we had finished counting down 7 weeks (49 days) the actual feast was to be the day after the Shabbat which brings us to the 50th day.

“Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall you number fifty days Leviticus 23:16; three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord…. Feast of weeks…….. And they shall not appear before the Lord Empty.”
The 49 day countdown of this feast is called the “counting of the Omer” Which will be explained in the full version of this post if you click the link below.
The picture above, a Jewish family dressing in white celebrating Shavuot at the Western Wall Jerusalem.
We celebrate this feast by staying awake studying the Torah all night and then dressing in white among other customs.
The white symbolizes the purity of the bride for the bridegroom.
Israel departed from Egypt on the evening of Passover; 50 days later Israel received the Law on Mont Sinai. Every Jew knows that the climax of leaving Egypt was the giving of the Law which was the day Israel became Gods wife. In this case we need to take heed to the rabbinical interpretation. Israel was commanded to sanctify herself today and tomorrow and on the third day the Lord their creator would meet them personally. This was the day Israel became God’s wife. Israel was to be awake all night waiting for the bridegroom. While waiting for the bride groom Israel fell asleep and was awakened by the sound of trumpets Every year we celebrate this feast we are reminded of Israel’s failure to be ready for the bride groom. The bride was asleep when the bride groom arrived and this was very shameful. She was woken by the sound of the thunder and lightning.
Because Israel missed her bride groom she must compensate, this is called “Tekoon” (repair) in Hebrew, now we must stay awake all night so this time we won’t miss the bridegroom. We also wear white to remind us of the wedding day with our creator and the purity of the bride.
Pentecost is the only feast of Israel which hasn't a set day there for was known as in Jesus' time as "The feast which no man knows the day or the hour."

Today is Jerusalem day

Update by Oriel, Jerusalem Israel

The yearly celebrations for Jerusalem day include Singing and dancing in the streets of Jerusalem till the early hours of the morning, parades through downtown Jerusalem, educational television programs, lectures on Jerusalem based topics, tours of the Old city of Jerusalem (with free admission)and our children study at school the significance of Jerusalem.
On the 10th of June 1967 on the last day of the six day war, the Old City of Jerusalem including the temple month came under Israeli control. Today (According to the Hebrew lunar calendar) we are celebrating the reunification of Jerusalem.
Israel was declared a nation on May the 14th 1948, the war of independence which followed left Jerusalem divided into two halfs, the old city with the temple mount was captured the Jordanians while the new city remained in Israeli (Jewish) hands.
In 1967 the Arab nations had surrounded Israel imposed a naval blockade and massed millions of troops around her borders declaring they would drive her into the sea. Only a miracle could save Israel. The war lasted 6 days and we rested on the seventh day.
Jesus prophesied that the time of his coming and the end of what is known as “the times of the gentiles” would end when Jerusalem comes back under Jewish rule. Many believe that Jerusalem still isn’t fully under Israeli control. Muslem Wakf (a subject for another post) is controlling the temple mount in many ways.
They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Luke 21; 24
verse 32 "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened”What does this mean for Gentile believers in Jesus? It means that focus and the kingdom will be returned to Jerusalem and Jerusalem will become the head of the nations with Jesus himself on the throne here on the Earth. See Isaiah 2;3-4
Clearly we are living in a time of transition. The time of the Gentiles is ending and God is establishing Jerusalem again to be the head of the nations. God’s message to us is............

“And give him no rest, till he establishes, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Isaiah 62:7.”

Are you aware to what God’s top priority in the very day we are living in? God himself is not resting until Jerusalem, For Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth, Isaiah 62,1

Report from the Old City of Jerusalem

Weekly update by Oriel , Jerusalem
This week, much attention has been focused on the rebuilt Hurva synagogue that was center of Jewish life in the Old City of Jerusalem before being destroyed by the Jordanians on the 27th May 1948. The synagogue was dedicated last month on the very day, the first of Nissan, centuries ago the Moses' tabernacle was dedicated in the wilderness, and the glory of God filled the tabernacle! (See Exodus 40:2, 34)

Almost immediately after the opening of the synagogue, a suggestive rumor, meant to incite Arabs, spread that the procession would continue to the Temple Mount. This sparked off riots with Arabs quickly organizing busloads of demonstrators from all over Israel, and they converged upon Jerusalem by the thousands, causing traffic jams and precipitating police attention.
